BREWING NOTES: Mashed in fine with these volumes. Could push a little further, but not much. 30 minutes into the mash (small hob, lid on, level 1) the temp had dropped slightly so moved to large hob. Still dropped so upped to level 2. Neoprene sleeve would really help this. Had to turn up to power level 10 halfway through the boil and add on 30 minutes. Note: Buffalo hob times out after 2 hours. Despite a chaotic end and messing around with the boil I pretty much hit my volumes. Future big beers probably boil for 3 hours at level 9. Prior to brewing I estimated efficiency at 55% but it was way higher at 68%. Added an extra 400ml of chilled water to make up the volume. Temp issues in the lift (too cold) so moved into the kitchen that was 16°C. Yeast totally gave up at 1.054. Added the yeast cake from Gyle 207 but it couldn’t save it. Final gravity 1.048. Diluted down with 4 litres of Ashbeck water. Eventually made the decision to pour this version and re-brew it properly.
